SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW
by Gwilda Wiyaka

It seems like an old subject yet it keeps cropping up with a new slant - that of what are we fueling with our energy and why. I often tell my students that everything we own has a piece of our energy attached to it. If we own too much that is just superfluous, most of our energy is tied up in that which no longer serves us.

So often we think we’re being frugal and reasonable. More likely, we’re holding on to things out of fear of lack rather than because the objects still serve.

Some of our most treasured gifts are actually items that allow us to hold on to the last fragments of a relationship that needs to shift or go away. We choose not to let go because we are afraid another relationship won’t come and take its place.

Even the way our homes are arranged and decorated locks down energy in a way that may no longer be appropriate.

I used to find the best arrangement of the things I have in my home and leave it that way for years. Now I find myself urged to re-arrange, re-sort, re-move much and acquire just a few things that hold the space more in alignment with who I am now.

During these times of rapid transition it seems to be very important to keep up with this process of assessment, frequently considering what serves us and what we need to let go of or rearrange. Keeping our possessions and environment in tune with who we are about to become helps us hold the new frequency.

Releasing what no longer serves us helps us let go of who we no longer are. By not surrounding ourselves with the old we are not being continually dragged down by things that carry our old identity and frequency. In addition, we are no longer fueling them with our personal energy. This frees our energy up to invest into the new that we wish to create.

Fall is a wonderful time for sorting through things and discerning what needs to go with us into our cave for winter. What materials will just take up much needed energy and space as opposed to what resources we will need to have on hand to get us through the winter and be ready to plant in the spring?

So during this season of Samhain, may your harvest be plentiful, may your burdens be few and may your pruning and weeding make room for wonderful new things to grow in your future.

In friendship,
Gwilda

Thoughts on Frequency
By Elizabeth Yelen

I attended the Dance of Power and Art of Ceremony classes over September 2nd and 3rd and I find both of those classes to be well worth taking more than once. One of the items that really struck me was the portion where Gwilda changed the vibrational level of the room. First she raised the vibration, and I experienced feelings of lightness, joy, laughter, and play. Then Gwilda lowered the vibration to let us experience how that felt. I think that often we tend to make judgments about one vibration or another, even though we all consciously try not to do that and to stay in a non-polarized and objective place. I found myself resisting the change of lowering the vibration at first.

There was a part of me that wanted to keep it right where it was, and did not like that it was being moved. However, as soon as I readjusted myself to accepting the change, I was able to see the value of that lower vibration. To me it felt more cave-like and restful, which is logical since it is a slower vibration, and the waves would be spaced further apart. Since Gwilda was the person to change the vibration and she comes from a place of integrity, the positive ways to use a lower vibration as a tool became much more obvious to me.

It also occurred to me that perhaps one of the reasons many of us tend to have some small part of us that judges against that lower vibration, is because we rarely see it used or created in this way. Since in the past, our experiences with lower vibrations has tended not to go very well for us personally, we resist it and judge against it unconsciously. I know that I have, and a large portion of my resistance to the change in frequency was due to that very thing. Being able to see the positive uses has helped me move further along the road of not polarizing, as well as having given me a wonderful tool to use in the future. Yet again I can say that while I never know what I will be learning, both about myself and about this work, I can always count on it being more than I expected.

Elizabeth Yelen is a dedicated second year student in the Path Home Shamanic Practitioner Certification Program and is involved in working with the drum and with drumming circles.

TOOL MAKING WITH THE RAVEN CLAN

Path Home Shamanic Arts School has its 2006 two year shamanic practitioners certification program well under way. The "Raven Clan" will be the first group to go through the newly expanded program and to experience exciting new classes along with the old tried and true ones.

Among these classes is the new Ceremonial Tools in which students get to shamanicly craft not only their drum but their rattle to be used in their schooling and practice.

Over the last two months, Path home ran two of these classes in order to keep the class size small and hold individualized attention at a premium.

The classes were taught by Drum Builders and Certified Path Home Instructors: Gwilda Wiyaka and Laura Miller. They were assisted by certified instructor, Cody Wigle and student Jon Crowder who are apprenticing to also be Path Home drum builders.
